We are a group of people working in or interested in science communication. We first came together in 2021 as a group of friends and acquaintances who were all working in the field. Over time, the network grew and we are now over 240 people. Most of us are based in Vienna, Austria. We use English as our main language as several of our members do not speak German.
The goal of our network is to connect people working in science communication or interested in working in that field. We want to help them in their professional development by providing a place to meet and exchange ideas online and in person.
In our chat group on Signal, we share professional insights, advice, and tips on events and job offers.
We also organize monthly meetups for which we invite guests from many subfields of science communication. This includes journalists, institutional communicators, podcasters, scientists, artists, and many more. See our archive for the list of guests.
The network, chat group, and meetups are organized by a small team of volunteers. In 2026, the Science Communication Hub joined forces with the association Krawall – Verein zur aktiven und nachhaltigen Gestaltung von Lebensräumen.

Our network is built on trust. We expect all network members to act professionally and in good faith and to treat others with respect. We want to provide a space for open and safe exchange and connection.
We do not tolerate any discrimination on the basis of race, class, sex, gender, sexual orientation, heritage, national origin, religion, disability, age, legal status, or any other aspect of identity.
The organizing team reserves its right to enforce this code of conduct by warning members and excluding them from the network and its events.
